Dr. Erica Botha

Education has always been more than a career for me—it is a calling. I am passionate about helping students discover their God-given abilities, overcome learning challenges, and grow into confident, capable learners. I also have a deep desire to encourage and equip educators, believing that when teachers are supported and continually growing in their knowledge and skills, they are better able to meet the diverse needs of every student in their classrooms.

I earned my undergraduate degree from Eastern Mennonite University (EMU), where I built a strong foundation in education. Over the past 16 years, I have taught in both public and private Christian schools, giving me the opportunity to work with students from a wide range of backgrounds, learning styles, and academic needs. My classroom experience includes teaching English for grades 6–12, English as a Second Language (ESL), and Journalism, while also supporting students with diverse learning differences. These experiences have reinforced my belief that every student learns differently and deserves instruction that recognizes their unique strengths and God-given abilities.

In addition to my classroom experience, I have served as an adjunct faculty member for four years, teaching online undergraduate courses. This role has allowed me to mentor future educators and adult learners while expanding my experience in higher education and online instruction.

To better serve students with learning differences, I earned a Master of Arts in Christian Education with a specialization in Special Education from Veritas Baptist College, followed by a Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Education with a specialization in Special Education from Veritas Baptist College. My doctoral studies strengthened my commitment to combining evidence-based educational practices with a biblical worldview to support learners of all abilities.

I have also pursued specialized professional training in evidence-based literacy and mathematics instruction, completing Level I Orton-Gillingham (OG) training and Multisensory Math Level I training. These experiences have equipped me with practical strategies to support students with dyslexia, dyscalculia, and other learning challenges through structured, multisensory instruction.

As the founder of Created to Thrive Learning, my mission is to partner with students, families, and educators by providing personalized academic support, educational consulting, and professional development that inspires growth and confidence. Guided by the truth of Psalm 139:14, I believe that every individual is fearfully and wonderfully made by God, uniquely gifted, and created with purpose. My desire is to help students reach their academic potential, empower families to confidently support their children’s learning, and equip educators with practical, research-informed, and faith-centered strategies that enable them to effectively meet the needs of every learner.

Whether I am working one-on-one with a student, coaching a parent, or leading professional development for educators, my goal is the same: to come alongside others with encouragement, expertise, and compassion, helping them recognize and develop the potential God has placed within them so they can flourish in the roles He has called them to fulfill.
